Assisting Blind People of Soc Trang Province
Story: Living without sight is not being able to enjoy what we, sighted people take for granted. The Consular Club feels that assisting the blind people of Soc Trang province will provide them with incomes, independence and dignity.
Problem: It is estimated that Soc Trang province has approximately 1,400 blind people, who have had to rely on making incense or providing massage as their main jobs – with begging on the streets.
Solution: The Consular Club was proud to fund the purchase of five computers, a printer, and a motorbike. The computer equipment with software, will now enable the blind people to train for a new vocation, and the motorbike will enable helpers to transport blind people to hospitals and deliver guidance and support to blind people and their families in remote locations.
