Laptop Computers and Televisions for Five Schools
Story: The area in south Vietnam that borders Kampuchia, is a very poor region with very low household incomes, derived mainly from farming. This region has many people of the Khmer ethnic culture.
Problem: Due to the poverty within the region, teaching aids are non-existent and children are limited in their learning - being heavily reliant upon the general knowledge of their teachers - and with little or no understanding of the world outside their villages.
Solution: The Consular Club feels that every child has a right to a quality education, which can be enhanced through the use of teaching aids such as TV's and computers. This will enable teachers to educate their students on subjects about which they would otherwise never know - living only within the confines of their own villages. The use of this technology will open up the world for many of these children.
